First Day of Summer!

The blown, shredded tire!!
So the day started out great, beautiful sunrise on the first day of summer. And that's as far as it went. Ten minutes out of Teesdale the trailer tire blew!!

We sat on the highway for three hours with the trailer
(seven horses in side) 'jacked' up like this!
Three hours later, after trips into Calgary for new tires, new spares, and spares for spares (and of course more Tim Hortons) we finally left the highway by Cornerstone Farms (Kathleen and Marshall came to say hi as we were sitting on the highway and brought macaroons for us to munch on!)

One of the bears!
After being three hours late with our start we finally got underway for a pleasant drive with no rain and gorgeous sun shine all the way there! I've never been this far west before and the scenery was amazing, I've also been the driver and Pam was my driver so I got to be touristy and take lots of photos. Speaking of touristy I also wanted to see wildlife, a bear perhaps. Pam's comment “No way are you going to see a bear, no chance, no way!!!” And so we didn't see one bear, oh no, we saw TWO bears. Until the park ranger came and got mad at the horde of people being dangerous on the highway taking photos and told us to go on our way.

We're here!!
We finally arrived, greeted by Deborah (who flew here) and Lisa (who drove here much earlier – waiting for Jill who is still doing exams at school!) They had already bedded down some of the stalls and Pam I chipped in to help out waiting for the trailer. Finally we all arrived, tired and ready for bed. Deborah cooked us dinner at the camp site (where the two motorhomes are staying) and we ended up at the hotel at 11:00pm where we flopped into bed and instantly to sleep!
